Eisteddfod Success

June 13, 2019

It has been a wonderful week of performances for the Good Shepherd College choirs and band at the Hamilton Eisteddfod. Our students worked very hard for the following results as did the adults in the German Shepherds. Thank you especially to Rev. David Schultz for his beautiful piano accompanying for all our choirs.

Eisteddfod Results: Open Concert Band German Shepherds 1st place Year 6 & under Primary School Choral Championship Good Shepherd College Junior Chamber Choir 2nd place Year 6 & under Primary School Sacred Song and Carol Contest. Good Shepherd College Junior Chamber Choir 1st place Year 6 & under Primary School Folk Song Good Shepherd College Junior Chamber Choir 1st place. Open Male, Female or Mixed Choir Good Shepherd College Senior Vocal Ensemble 1st place. Ensemble Open Gospel or Sacred Song Group Good Shepherd College Senior Vocal Ensemble 2nd place. Primary School Aggregate Choral Trophy – Good Shepherd College Junior Chamber Choir (fourth year in a row) Woodward Aggregate Trophy for best choir from school of approximately 80 students – Good Shepherd College Junior Chamber Choir (thirteenth year in a row).

It has been a pleasure working with the students in the choirs and bands as well as the adults in the German Shepherds. We may be smaller in numbers than other schools in the region but we still hold our own in the field of music. The Senior Vocal Ensemble should be especially proud having placed so well against adult choirs.

The Senior Vocal Ensemble is a non auditioned choir with very limited rehearsal time and yet they have managed to perform at an elite level.
