Introducing New Staff – Mr. Jarryd Noller

February 15, 2020

Hi everyone! My name is Jarryd Noller and I will be working here at Good Shepherd as the School Chaplain/Counsellor for 1-3 days a week – Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
A little bit about me; last year I was the College Chaplain at Holy Trinity Lutheran College, Horsham. Before that, I had the privilege of being in the same role at St. John’s Lutheran School Portland, Hamilton Parklands School (Special Development), and Heywood & District Secondary College.
I was born and bred in Geelong, I am married to Heidi, who teaches Year 2 at the Junior Campus. I have also spent time working at campsites in Canberra, Anglesea and the Grampians, and have completed studies in Theology and YouthWork, currently undertaking my Educational studies online.
I decided to become a School Chaplain due to my passion to serve others, spend time with children and young people, and to care for the mental health and wellbeing of students in schools.
As this is a new role being established at Good Shepherd College, I feel that it is important to understand what a Chaplain does.
A Chaplain:
• provides social and emotional support to
students, including strategies for
emotional regulation;
• provides behavioural support to students;
• delivers messages at Chapel;
• friendship and relationship support students;
• helps with student engagement and connectedness;
• provides pastoral care and guidance to students;
• provide referrals for professional support
• attend camps, excursions and other events

I will be sharing this role with Tarrington Lutheran School for 2 days a week.

If you would like any more information or would like to meet with me, please do not hesitate at all to contact me via the school, and I look forward to meeting you all and getting to know you this year.
Many blessings.
Mr. Jarryd Noller
