Junior Campus Athletic Sports Carnival
It has been a big week. The excitement and energy of Sports Day has left us all feeling a little drained now that we have packed away all the equipment, announced the results and awarded our Age Champions their medals. While Sports Days are some of my favourite days of the years, I know they are not everyone’s favourite. Our youngest students enjoy lots of team events (winning lots of ribbons!), with some individual events, whereas our older students participate in many individual events (winning fewer ribbons), aiming to be selected as a school representative for the Hamilton District Athletics competition which will be held at Pedrina Park next Thursday.
For the high achievers: we notice you. We notice your determination and your competitiveness. We notice your achievements and your attitude. We notice you cheering on students who aren’t as competitive, who can’t jump as far or run as quick. We notice you encouraging those around you to do their best. We notice you and we thank you.
For the plodders: we notice you. We notice your determination and your eagerness to please those around you by putting your best foot forward. We notice you encouraging those around you to do their best. We notice you picking yourself up after missing out on a ribbon and trying your best in the next event. We notice you and we thank you.

Thank you to all the parents and staff who took on additional responsibilities to ensure Sports Day was successful. We cannot run big events like this without your help – we appreciate you!
Thank you to Mrs Parker, Mrs Baring and the Applied Learning class for helping out at events and encouraging the students to do their best.
Thank you to Mal Schultz for coordinating the BBQ, and for those parents who served the children. The BBQ raised $450, which is fantastic!
We will make some adjustments to next year’s carnival (always looking to improve), so if you’d like your suggestion to be considered, please do not hesitate to email me: awedding@gsc.vic.edu.au. Positive and negative feedback are both welcome, together with your suggestions for improvement.
