What a May Market!

May 13, 2021

Our Annual May Market was a huge success last Saturday, with many people turning out to support the school and the community. Many hours are put into the market to ensure its success, and we are thankful for everyone’s assistance.

We would like to acknowledge the work of Mal Schultz, who over the past two years laid much of the groundwork for the market, and to Victoria Easton, who so ably took on the coordinating role just a few short weeks ago. Thank you!

We would also like to thank the stall convenors: Jane Rentsch (Plants), Jenine Schutz (Flowers), Rachel Verschuren (Farmer’s Market), Linda Stickland (Trash & Treasure), Curtis Mayall (Coffee), Lester Wedding (Mettwurst), Renae Porter (Soup & Sandwiches), Tonya McRostie (Bakehouse), Victoria Venning (Specialty Cakes) and Darian Schultz (BBQ) for their efforts in coordinating their stalls and helpers.

Our Ag Club was superbly represented with the stall organised by Chloe Hasell and Emma Jurecky. Much interest was generated through the stall and the enthusiasm of the students and staff.

We were entertained by the wonderful Frank Verschuren over the course of the day and the Junior Campus Choirs performed two sets of songs under the leadership of Beth Tonissen and Francine Bell. We also thank Kate Wear for organising and leading the Strings Group performance.

And then there are the helpers and supporters. We literally could not do this without them. From set-up to pack-up and everything in between, thank you.

With some expenses still to be taken out, it looks like the May Market will contribute over $15,000 to special projects across the school such as the Junior Campus Courts and the Senior Campus Sports Centre. This is a phenomenal result, given we were unsure of the certainty of the event!
