November 4, 2022

I hope you had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed the Melbourne Cup.

Primary School State Athletics
Yesterday, Wednesday 2nd November, Leayla Pohl, Seamus McDonald and Tessa Verschuren competed in Melbourne at the State Athletics Championships.

Seamus ran 2nd in the heat of his Hurdles event, which qualified him for the final. He ran 5th in the state final, which is a fantastic result. Sadly, Tessa was unable to compete, but she will no doubt, get more chances in the years to come. Leayla triple jumped her way to 7th place in the morning, and followed this up in the Long Jump to finish 7th in the afternoon. How amazing. A big day for all!

State Gymnastics Championships
Annie Colliton was in a team of 4 and they scored 1st place in Vault, Beam and Overall. A terrific effort!

Super 8 Cricket Carnival
The Year 7-8 Carnival that was suspended due to weather conditions has been rescheduled to Tuesday 15th November. Let’s hope the rain goes away and we can get this carnival organised. Our school is running this carnival, at Pedrina Park, and I am looking for at least 4 parents to come along to assist with some simple supervision and scoring. Please let me know if you can help.

GT Storm Basketball
Our new singlets arrived last week and they look even better than expected. A huge thank you to Shane Jurecky, who organised these for our club. We are blessed.

All players should now have a top to play in. These are to be kept at home and only worn for basketball games. These are to be kept for several seasons, or until players grow out of them and need a bigger one. If you do not have a new top, please contact your team manager, who will organise one for you (via Mr J)

All the best to all of our teams – Go GT Storm!

Year 7-10 Golf, Tennis & Triathlon
Letters and permission notes have gone home to those chosen to represent GSC at Tennis (Hamilton) or Golf (Heywood) tomorrow (Friday 4th November), plus Triathlon (Portland) on Wednesday 9th November. The triathlon will include the following distances (approximate at this stage):
