Sport

Participation in sport is an integral part of life at Good Shepherd. Sport unites students by providing shared opportunities for recreation, physical fitness, developing friendships and instilling values such as working together for a common goal.

Students are encouraged to participate to the best of their ability and to display true sportsmanship. The social enjoyment and skill development aspects are encouraged rather than the ‘win at all costs’ attitude. How you play the game is important at Good Shepherd.

Good Shepherd is a member of a number of sports associations which allows our students to represent the college in a wide variety of local, regional and state sporting competitions. These include:

  • Australian Rules Football (AFL)
  • Basketball
  • Cricket
  • Equestrian
  • Glenelg District Athletics
  • Glenelg District Swimming
  • Glenelg District Cross Country
  • Golf
  • Netball
  • Soccer
  • Shooting
  • Swimming
  • Lawn Bowls

Interhouse Sports and Activities

Good Shepherd has a proud history of a strong and enthusiastic house system with all students in one of three houses: Kannenberg, Napier and Pierrepoint.

Students in Years 7-12 gather for house meetings under the leadership of House Coordinators and Student House Captains to organise house activities, acknowledge student achievement and develop a sense of pride in their house.

The House activities program includes:

  • Interhouse Swimming
  • Interhouse Cross Country
  • Interhouse Athletics
  • Interhouse Recreational Sports

In the recreational sports program, students participate in a range of activities throughout the year including indoor soccer (futsal), basketball, table tennis and beach volleyball to name a few.
