Sport at Good Shepherd College

Sport at Good Shepherd College is a dynamic and integral part of student life. We offer a wide variety of sports and activities, ensuring that every student can find their niche, stay active, and build lifelong healthy habits. Whether your child is an aspiring athlete or enjoys playing for fun, our program offers something for everyone.

Extensive Co-Curricular Program

Our co-curricular offerings vary throughout the year and are available to students across both the Junior and Senior Schools. Designed to complement inter-school sports, health and physical education (HPE) programs, and local club competitions, these activities help students further develop their skills and passion for fitness.

House Competitions & School Spirit

House competitions are a major highlight of our sporting calendar, fostering deep camaraderie and teamwork. Students are divided into houses—each with its own distinct identity and colours—to compete in a range of thrilling major events, including:

  • Athletics carnivals

  • Swimming meets

  • Cross country championships

  • Novelty and team-building sports

All house events culminate in the ultimate goal: claiming the coveted annual House Cup.

Holistic Development & Life Skills

Sports at our college go far beyond physical activity. We believe the sporting field is a powerful classroom for character. Guided by dedicated coaches and supported by quality facilities, students have every opportunity to excel while learning essential life skills:

  • Teamwork and collaboration

  • Leadership and strategic thinking

  • Sportsmanship and resilience

Flagship Program: Human Powered Vehicle (HPV)

Our unique HPV program offers exceptional multi-disciplinary benefits by beautifully blending hands-on STEM education with rigorous physical training.

Participating in premier Victorian initiatives like the Energy Breakthrough, students:

  • Apply STEM Principles: Active application of classroom mathematics, science, and engineering to design, build, and optimize highly aerodynamic vehicles.

  • Build Athletic Discipline: Demanding cardiovascular training that fosters peak physical fitness and endurance.

  • Strengthen Community Spirit: Uniting students across different year levels, staff, parents, and local mentors as they collaborate on vehicle logistics, pit stop coordination, and trackside support.
