A Lutheran School
Our Lutheran Heritage
Since 1839, Lutheran schools have been a vital part of Australia’s educational landscape. Today, this rich tradition extends into every state and territory except the ACT, encompassing over 75 schools that educate more than 55,000 students. Additionally, around 60 Lutheran early childhood centres across the nation provide care and education for an estimated 3,600 young children.
As part of this rapidly growing national community, Good Shepherd College is backed by strong system support at both regional and national levels, ensuring a high-quality education grounded in historic roots.
Ethos and Values
Good Shepherd College operates as a school of the Lutheran Church of Australia. Our foundation rests entirely on the central message of the Gospel: that our acceptance by God does not depend on our own worth or achievements, but on His unconditional love for us, shown through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
We view every student as a uniquely gifted individual. We offer tailored, high-quality teaching and learning experiences designed to help each child flourish. Our college is a community built on caring, respectful relationships, which serve as the binding element that allows us to actively share our ethos and values. As a forward-looking learning community, we proclaim hope for the future while remaining deeply grounded in the Lutheran tradition.
Spiritual Life at Good Shepherd
At Good Shepherd College, our spiritual life is not just a subject we teach; it is the heartbeat of our community. Guided by our Lutheran values, we provide a safe, caring, and forgiving environment where students, staff, and families can explore faith, grow in character, and experience the love of Jesus in practical, everyday ways.
For Our Students: A Journey of Faith and Discovery
Students at Good Shepherd encounter a supportive framework that nurtures the whole child—academically, emotionally, and spiritually.
Daily Devotions: Every day begins with a intentional classroom devotional time, allowing students to ground themselves, pray, and reflect before learning begins.
Weekly Chapel Services: Our Junior and Senior campus communities gather weekly for student-led and pastor-led Chapel services, exploring timeless biblical truths through a contemporary lens.
Service Learning: Faith is put into action through meaningful community projects, encouraging students to develop empathy, show care, and serve the wider world.
For Our Staff: Leading with Purpose and Grace
Our dedicated educators and support staff do more than teach—they model the servant leadership of the Good Shepherd.
A Collaborative Community: Staff experience a highly supportive and collaborative professional atmosphere where faith and work harmoniously intertwine.
Daily Witness: Teachers actively weave the college values of love, compassion, and reconciliation into their everyday curriculum, interactions, and behaviour management practices.
Spiritual Support: Staff are uplifted through shared devotionals, prayer ministry, and pastoral guidance, empowering them to lead their classrooms with genuine purpose and care.
For Our Families: An Inclusive Partnership
We walk alongside our families, welcoming everyone exactly where they are on their individual faith journeys.
Connected Events: From welcoming treasure hunts at the start of the school year to community worship, we intentionally create spaces where parents and extended families can gather and connect.
Shared Priorities: We invite families into the spiritual conversation, collaborating to teach children that putting faith, integrity, and relationships first brings life into beautiful focus.
A Lifelong Anchor: Parents can find comfort knowing their children are surrounded by a secure pastoral care network that prioritizes student well-being and holistic growth above all else.
