New Beginnings

September 1, 2022

Many of you would have received the letter from our College Chairperson, Mr Andrew Rentsch, earlier in the week informing the community that I will be leaving Good Shepherd College at the end of the year to take up a new appointment at Peace Lutheran College, Cairns in 2023.

For me, as I am sure for you, there will be mixed emotions regarding this announcement. There is a feeling of nostalgia as we look back on the amazing journey travelled over the past 8 years which is now sadly coming to an end, while at the same time great excitement and anticipation as we look to the future opportunities which await a new principal’s vision for the College.

While in the coming months ahead there will be time for reflection and celebration, our focus remains very much on the here and now as we prepare for the arrival of new staff and facilities for 2023. Upcoming interviews, building plans and other preparations will continue to ensure a smooth transition and a continuation of excellence and care which is a distinctive feature of our College.

As the writer in Hebrews reminds us, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” (Hebrews 12:1)
